Acris is a screen-time app for adults who want to limit their own device use. This policy explains exactly what data Acris collects, how, what it is used for, who else sees it, how long it is kept, and how to have it removed.
Acris blocks apps and websites using Apple's Screen Time system. That system is built so the app doing the blocking never learns what you chose.
When you pick apps, categories or websites, Apple hands Acris a privacy-preserving reference to your selection rather than the selection itself. Acris can ask Apple to block what you picked, but it cannot read what it is — there is no list of app names or websites inside Acris to send anywhere, because Apple never provides one.
Acris also does not ask for the additional Apple permission that would reveal that information. That permission exists, and it is deliberately not requested.
Screen Time figures shown inside the app are drawn by Apple's own component in a protected area of the screen. Acris cannot read those numbers, use them, or send them anywhere.
So none of the following ever leaves your device, or reaches us in any form: the apps you block, the websites you block, the categories you choose, the names of your activity lists, or how long you spend in anything.
Acris has no account system, asks for no email address, and does not access your contacts, location, photos, or advertising identifier. It does not track you across other apps or websites.
Acris sends a small, fixed set of product-usage events so we can understand whether the app works and improve it. Each event contains only:
The list of permitted details is fixed in the app's source code, and anything not on it is discarded before sending. The random install identifier is created by the app, is not Apple's advertising identifier, is not derived from any device identifier, and is not connected to your name, email, Apple Account, or any other person. It exists so that repeated events from one installation can be counted once rather than many times.
If you give explicit permission, Acris records your screen during first-time setup only, to understand where people get stuck. This is off unless you turn it on, and you can decline without losing any functionality.
Recording stops before the Apple app-selection screen and before any system permission prompt, so the apps you choose are never captured. Recording never runs anywhere else in Acris.
Subscriptions are sold and processed by Apple. Apple handles your payment credentials; Acris never receives your card or bank details, billing address, or Apple Account identity.
Apple provides Acris with the subscription information needed to decide whether to unlock the app — which plan you are on and its current status, such as whether it is in a trial, renewing, cancelled, in a billing grace period, or expired. Acris uses that solely to determine access. Transaction identifiers and purchase receipts are never included in anything Acris sends to its analytics provider.
Product-usage events, and onboarding session recordings where you have opted in, are processed on our behalf by PostHog, a third-party analytics service provider, on servers in the European Union. PostHog acts as our processor: it handles the data only on our instructions and under a data processing agreement, and is required to protect it to the standard described in this policy.
Acris does not sell personal data, does not share it with data brokers, does not use advertising networks, and does not use analytics for advertising or for tracking you across other apps or websites. PostHog is not used for any of those purposes.
Both kinds of collection are optional and are off unless you turn them on:
They are separate choices, and neither is a condition of using Acris. Everything you pay for behaves exactly the same whether you agree, decline, or change your mind later. You can turn either off at any time in Acris under Settings › Privacy. Turning off product analytics also discards anything collected but not yet sent.
Events are held on your device until they have been sent, and a copy stays on your device afterwards so Acris knows what has already been delivered. Deleting Acris removes everything held on the device, including your rules, your settings and those records.
Data held by our analytics provider is retained for no longer than is necessary to understand how Acris is used, after which it is deleted automatically.
To have data already collected deleted, or to ask what is held about you, email privacy@acrisapp.com. Acris has no account system, so include your Privacy ID — you will find it in Acris under Settings › Privacy, where it can be copied. Without it we have no way to identify which records are yours.
Acris is intended for adults managing their own device use. It is not directed at children and is not a parental-control or supervision product.
If this policy changes materially, the updated version will be published here with a new date above, and where the change affects what is collected it will be surfaced in the app.
